More than 800 people were present for Open House, held Thursday night at Blountville High School. Brief talks were given by J. Craft Akard, school superintendent, and Nat Barnes, school board member. Milton Robelot, architect for the new building, and Charles Wright, contractor, were on hand to present a bronze plaque to the school and to explain the work just finished, which has doubled the facilities of the school. An entire new wing has been built containing four new classrooms, a library and study hall and two large rooms for [commercial classes. An agricul tural department has been added to the old woodwork and mechanical drawing building. The home economics depart ment in the old building has been remodeled. It is also equipped with up-to-date func tional furniture and the latest kitchen and laundry equipment. The former lbrary and study shall have been converted into bore new class rooms. The science department has two large rooms and storage space for equipment. ~ New lighting has been in stalled throughout the building to provide adequate non-glare il lumination. Guests were conducted on a tour of the whole building by Bultes under the direction of Paul Creason. During the program a numb er of groups sang Christmas carols and presented skits. Solo ists included Harriet Smith, Pamela Carr, Michael Holt, Fred Bridwell and Howard Hobbs. Bally Beasley presented a poem, ‘Why We Have Christmas.” Bob Lindamond gave the devotionals from St. Luke.
