Garlington, while hunting for door on the east side of the river, peer Elk Lake, discovered in the morning the t racks of what he suppoted to be Uear, Tie followed these tracks until almost dusk, when hoating the trail, he started back a short dis tance to recover it, and he opening to glance to one wide, discovered # lynz crouched in the rushes and preparing to spring upon him;t but instantly reising his rifle, he shot it dead. It was the tracks of this animal he had been following, and which had moving to oue aide in order to elude pursuit. The lyox is seldom found in this portion of the country, and this was a very large one of its species. On last Thursday, Ambrose Freeman, Feq., killed two deer, and on the succeeding Saturd day, Thos Alden, Req., shot one. On Mon day, Mr. Freeman shot three more, and wheo pping with a team to bring these home, killed another. Mr. Freeman is, undoubtedly, the best hunter in this portion of the country. Naw Hovss,—Mr. Raymond has commen ded the erection of a fine building, a short diatante below the Sash factory. It is in a fine situation, commanding beautiful view of tha t Missionippi river and the islands below town. He intends completing it so far this winter, as to allow the plasterers to begin work early in the spring. Baayrtins.—We are indebted 10 Prof. Crom well for a pitcher of nice sweet cider. An thie fe the season for mince ples, persons may know where to obtain cider. ——A hunter at Fair Haven killed a deer which weighed, when aresued, 250 pounds.——A beautiful diepay of Aurore Borealis was visible on last Monday evening.
