Ralph “Bud” Mueller took first place with a handi cap-aided 646 series in the Merry Mixers League “Bowl er of the Year Tournament” at Frontier Lanes last week. Mueller had a 568 scratch series with game scores of 174, 191 and 203. Elgin Hartzmann was second with a 637 handicap series. He had a 577 scratch series, with games of 216, 180 and 181. Joe Florio posted a 547 scratch series and George Tate rolled an even 200 game during the tourney. Frontier Lanes Other league highlights last week at Frontier Lanes: MOTOROLA MIXED 4 — Doug Hutto set the lanes on fire as he rolled a 660 series, including games of 212 and 267. Lew Davenport was close behind with a 648 series and games of 233 and 223. Bob Snodgrass had a 216 game, Wayne Finke had a 214 game and Mary Ann Thomas had a 588 series. FRONTIER SATURDAY JRS, — Dennis Reinker continued his red hot pace in this junior league as he rolled a 559 series on the strength of 204, 182 and 173 games. Robert Melzer had a 545 series and 224 game. SIX SHOOTERS — Gale Greer, a 150 average bowler, bested that score twice with games of 194 and 229 on the way to a fine 549 series. FRONTIER SATURDAY — Robert Melzer had a high game of 191 and topped the league with a 547 series. John Welty had an even 500 series. FRONTIER JUNIORS — Robert Melzer’s 554 series was high for this league, as well as his 212 game. Don Carity had a 193 game and 510 series. Papago Lanes Betty Dahmer, a 136 bowler, in the Scottsdale Women's League, outdid herself three times last week, with game scores of 165, 194 and 168, while rolling a 527 series. Lara McQuiston, sponsor of McQ's bowling team had high game for the league with a 229 score. Other league highlights at Papago. BREAKFAST CLUB — Vicki Adams, after rolling games of 142, and 135, turned in a whopping 213 score to top her league. Sherry Adams had a 208 game. Phyllis Shaler had high series with a 527 score, PIONEER. SCRATCH — Bernie Wright combined steady bowling to gain top honors in this league with a 566 series. Lois Elsner had a high game of 215. Barbara Vance posted a 213 game. Nancie Hecht had a 199 game and 547 series.
