Wesleyan Gains 10-Point Lead In OpenerThe Titan bucketmen breezed over an arch rival, Wabash college of Indiana Friday, Dec. 9, to the tune of 10 big points, 47-37.7 The inaugural victory was a duplication of the football starter, for it was Wabash that was the victim in that game. The duplication goes even farther than that; if you recall, two boys were standouts on the Wabash gridiron and the same two were main cogs on Friday night — Hank Bennett and Jimmy Hersh-barger.Hank’s 21 points, his rebounding and fighting leadership made him one of the standout players on the floor. Hershbarger, who replaced a fine player, Gordon Beutke, gave the fans plenty to see both in his tricky basket shooting and competitive spirit.Jim Herold, a freshman, has the same smoothness in his ball handling as Desormey did and is consistently setting up scores via his floor play, passing, and rebounding. He has one edge on Desormey and that is in his eye for the basket.
