Pleads Guilty to Larceny. Mrs. Christine V. Cobb, 36, at tractive Presque Isle widow, pleaded guilty Monday in Ded ham to larceny of clothing from the home of C. W. Conrad of Walpole, where she was employ ed as a domestic. Judge Nelson P Brown of the superior court imposed a sentence to the wom en’s reformatory, which he sus pended, and placed Mrs. Cobb on probation for three years, injured by Automobile. Miss Florence EF. Avery is in a serious condition at the Lincoln County Memorial hospital in Newcastle as the result of an un usual automobile accident Mon day morning. Miss Avery was crossing the road, when an auto mobile operated by Louis Vigne of Waterville, which was trying to make the steep rise at the en trance to the terrace slid back on the snow and the woman was thrown down and pinned be neath it. She was nearly as phyxiated by the pressure of the car before it was lifted suffic iently to remove her, and at first it was thought that she was dead, but after treatment by Dr. Robert W. Belknap she was found to be breathing. She was unconscious for several hours. State Police who investigated absolved the driver of blame. Dial System Used. The Caribou telephone ex change, a unit of the New Eng land Telephone Company which supplies nearly 2,000 subscribers, was cut over to dial service at 2 p. m. Monday when P. J. Sulli van, president of the Chamber of Commerce, dialed the first call to Grover H. Hardison, town agent. Caribou is the fourth Aroostook town to be rewired for dial service. Present in the new telephone building, High street, to participate in the cut over ceremony were: Charles Anderson, division traffic en gineer, Clyde Brooks, plant supervisor, Clinton Merrow, equipment installation foreman, all of oortland; William Atwood, dial supervisor, Boston; Arthur Rogers, central office inspector, Bangor; Gerald P. Dunn, county wire chief; John Baker, main tenance supervisor, and G. Har old Brown, office manager, all of Presque Isle; Arthur G. Vose, Caribou manager, and P. S. Mer rithen and S. J. Vermette, se lectmen. Democrats Win. The Democratic party, which has been in control of Westbrook politics the past three years, was returned again by the voters Monday. They reelected Roscoe F. Libby of Saco street as mayor for his fourth term by 913 votes, reelected City Clerk Harold N. Lord for his ninth term, took nine of the 13 seats in the city council, elected every Democrat ic candidate in ward two, long Republican, and the home ward of William B. Bragdon, Repub lican candidate for mayor, and elected the party candidate for
