A strange “varmint : is’ roaming is woods of Franklin. county. sands» frightening the peaceful coon’ ‘hunt ers, who have’ come upon it in the moonlight “Several hunters have called off all hunting activities” until the mystery is solved. The wild beast is thought to bera tiger or a ‘leopard and the theory is advanced that it escaped from a cir cus several months ago. No one has been successful in gsiting closer than 100 yards to the animal In fact no one has had’ any ‘desire to get within speaking distance. The creature recently was seen in the vi cinity of Cupp’s Chapel In the west part of the county. Some talk has been heard of form ing a hunting party to kill or capture the beast. It is feared that the “varmint’ may damage property or endanger the lives of citizens.
