WAS A BAD MAN FROM TEXAS.Krneat 13. Brown Carves Up Jim Buless anil is Now in the Meade County Jail.Ernest E. Brown was “a bad man from Texas,” su he said, and just to prove it he sailed in and carved Jim Buless up in such a way that the genial Jim came pretty near bidding farewell to this vale of tears. All this happened up on a Meade county ranch some ten days ago and The Union made brief mention of the affair in its edition of last week. But Brown isn’t as “bad” as he was—not half as bad! He has quit the use of human blood as a regular beverage, is sorrowful and penitent and wishes that he was back in the lone star state again—but he isn’t. He is in the Meade county bastile, having been brought back from. Pierre by the sheriff of our sister county and placed in durance vile last Saturday. The full details of the affair have been given out and the story ruus about as follows:On Monday, November 24, Brown and James Bullis, both cowboys employed bv Narcisse Narcelle, whoat Pierre and Brown went to him to get a balance of $50 due him in wages. Narcelle questioned Brown closely and gleaned part of the story of the trouble from him. Appreci ating the seriousness of the affair Narcelle evaded payment of the sum until the sheriff of Hughes county could be communicated with, when Brown was arrested and held until the sheriff of Meade county could come aod get this imitator of Harry Tracy, the desperado Brown, who is a man of no great intelligence, seems stolid rather crafty. He went back to Meade than county without a murmur and said he was willing to face the charge against him, which will be assault with attempt to commit murder. The prisoner is 5 feet and 9 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. Ho came to this state from San Sabe, Texas, and has posed as a bad man ever since he has been here. He says he does not know why he attacked Bullis. At the election last month he raised a disturbance at White Owl and threatened to wreck the ballot box and clean out the polling place.
