Down on Copj’K(ijikaos.—John K. Lovejoy has been doing up the editorial for the Washoe Timet since the death of Gen. Allen, but last week resigned the position in favor of C. C. Goodwin, aman of fine literary ability. If we may judge from the following pointed little squib which appeared in the first number, Goodwin is no sympathiser with Copperhead* or their mischievous doctrines;Suppose honesty became sick and truth grew ashumed of herself, what would a Copperhead editor know of either circumstance ? What a grief it is that the engineers who direct the machinery of our Government, could not he banished, and their predecessors installed in their places ! What a pity that the “ Old (do) Functionary M cannot be again Chief Magistrate of the Nation, to cry in helplessness over seceded States ! What a sorrow that Floyd canuot steal hark from the grave to steal again iu Washington ! Or, that Wigfall cannot stop his wails for bread in Virginia, and go hack to the Senate of the United States, to tell the countrymen of Webster and Douglas, that the “ trouble is, they neither semi brave men or geutlemen to represent them in Congress I” Honesty would not be sick then, nor truth ashamed of herself I No chance.n .________ 1._____ !__ A* -__ ___. t T)lah
