N. Y. ’Murder’ Victim / RevivesNEW YORK, Dec. 10 — New York titillated this weekend with a brand-new mystery with sexy overtones, involving a half-clad burlesque dancer in a bathtub, a jealous lover, an unsolved attack and a raft of con*radic-tory stories. For a while it looked like a murder, but a hard-working cop revived the girl after a medico pronounced her dead. The girl, Joan Rydell, told police she was conked on the head by an unseen intruder as she lay nude in bed drinking a highball and listening to the radio, but detectives weren’t impressed, pointing out: (1) She had a negligee on when she was found;(2) she was found in the bathtub, and(3), broken bottles and furniture indicated a struggle in her apartment. To which the blonde shrugged and said, Just say I fell in the bathtub, and let it go at that.;;But the cops weren’t so casual about it, especially when they had a chat with one of Joan’s friends, Daw n Mitchell, another stripper. Dawn said Joan had quarrelled with her lover, who objected to her returning lt;o the stage after two years’ retirement. Neighbors also said the lover, a middle-aged married gent, had visited her more than freauently.
