GRAND OLD MANPASSES AWAYnValentine Volk, one of Johnson ounty’s old pioneers passed away on Tuesday, December 2nd. at themm-'Whis daugh^rr^#^mes;: Barry, near Oxford, i • He had been bed-fast for neaily ; eight weeks.i The funerals services were held at St. Peter's Church at Cosgrove , Thursday morning at 9:30 o’clock 'and interment made in St. Peter’s Cemetery.| Mr. Volk was born in Germany,' October 6th, 1833. He came to j America when lie was 19 years old,I where he has resided in this .ounty ever since, Ho leaves to mourn him, two daughters, Mrs. James Barry of Oxford and Mrs. James Hogan of Union Township and one sop, George, of Cosgrove, besides fcwety-mne grand children and thirty-three great grand children and many friends.Mr, Volk was a loyal citizen, a devoted Catholic and a true friend and his loss will be felt^by all who knewhim.
