WEDNESDAY, DEC. 14, 1853. ‘We are requested to state that Dr. James R. Senth will preach at Bay Spring, on the 4th Sunday in January ext. The proprietor of the Georgian Citizen offers that paper for sale. If not sold before, it will be sold to the highest bidder on the fist Tuesday in January next, Pork is selling here at Scents net. The weather has been fine for saving pork for sev eral days past. It will be observed that our list of bills pass ed the Senate, is much larger than that of the the House. We will state, in justice to that body, that the House has been engaged in ap propriations,and other matters which we have thought unnecessary to publish. The Legis lature adjourns on Friday next. ~~ Again it becomes our painful duty to record the death of an estimable citizen of our town. Mr. Thomas Meagher died at his residence at this place on Sunday morning first, of con sumption—aged 33 years. He leaves a wife and one child. We deeply sympathise with his wereaved family in this great affliction. His remains were interred with masonic hon ors on Monday last, by the members of Haile ton Lodge. To Latoxs.—Have you furnished us with our real name, or that of some other young dads ? Hope you will pardon us, but we can't help believing you are endeavoring to deceives in this particular. Your last verses are very pretty, but we shall withhold them till we are fully satisfied that you are not vusing the name of someone who knows noth ing about it. Let us hear from you, Hon. Thos. O. Wicker will please accept our thanks for a copy of the report of the Super intendent and Treasurer of the W. A. Rail Road; a copy of the address of Hon. T. Butler King ; a copy of the annual Report of the Commissioners of the Georgia Institute, for the education of the Deaf and Dumb, and a copy of the Report of the Trustes, Superin tendent and Resident busicians of the Dona te Asylum. The Circus was in town last week, and such a crowd of people, we have never seen in Sandersville before, us came out on Tuesday last to see the show. We cannot understand why it is people are so anxious to see these great humbugs. But showmen know what kind of bait to use to catch the people with everyone that comes along has something that has never been seen before in America— a Hippopotamous for instance, as was display ed here on the hand bills, and said to be the only specimen of the Hippopotamous in Amer ica; but which proved to be nothing but a stuffed skin. We notice that our cotemporary of the Nin teenth Century will not advertise for Circus Companies. It would no doubt, be a benefit to the morale of the country, if every paper in the State would adopt that rule. One circus in a community will do more harm, leave more low, vulgar sayings behind it for one perfor mance, than anything that could be brought into it; and yet everybody, almost, patronizes them. Its strange, but true.
