by LEAGUE PUBLICITOR PEEWEES Arlington’s McEnerney Insurance re mained unbeaten after turning back Ar lington’s Franklin Glue 7 to 2. Curt Bailey opened the scoring for Franklin unassisted. The Insurancemen tied the score and the period ended 1 to 1. Pat Reilly and Bryan Schumann did a fine job killing off five penalties for McEnerney. McEnerney started check ing in the 2nd period and pulled away. Rick Palmer led the way with two goals and two assists. Bryan Schumann had one goal and three assists, Reilly had one goal with two assists. Bob Rosen quest, Mike Fredian, and Al Lattof tal lied single goals. Dave O’Neil, Brad Schumann, and Jeff Rotwood earned one assist each. John Jordan was excellent in the nets, and Jeff Howell was out standing on defense. Franklin’s only oth er score came on an unassisted effort by Bruce Olson. The Arlington Firefighters were idle. The PeeWee All-Stars won two games this past week. In the first game they turned back the Winfield Stars 5 to 3. Mike Fredian led the way with two goals, one being a shorthanded effort. Rick Palmer had one goal and one as sist, Mark Butler, and John Otzen scored one goal each. Bryan Schumann and Rusty Gould each had two assists. Single assists went to Jim McGuire and Larry Hermanson. In game two the Stars travelled to the Wagon Wheel and turned back the Rock ton All-Stars 22 to 0. Rick Palmer scored five times and also had two assists. Mike Fredian scored three goals and one assist as did Jim Santilli. John Otzen had three tallies and two assists. Getting credit for two goals each were Bruce Olson and Larry Hermanson. Single scores were registered by Bob Rosenquist, Mark But ler, Jeff Rozwood, and Tom Gorski. Jim McGuire who played a fine all around game had four assists and Curt Bailey had three. Two assists each went to Rosenquist and Gorski. Single assists went to Bryan Schuman, Rusty Gould, Olson and Rotwood. BANTANS Arlington’s Prim Cleaners and Arling ton Soft Water battled to a 3 to 3 tie in a league game at the Polar Dome. John McLoraine scored twice for Prim and Mike Retzer scored once. Assists went to Joe Cooper, Bryan Locker, Tom Cleese and Retzer. Scott Whittier turned in an excellent performance. Soft Water goal scorers were John Walsh, Matt Kaniecki, and Jim Fenderson. Assists went to Walsh with two and Will Conway. Goal tending was shared by Mike Knight and Dave DeLeslie for Soft Water and John Roth and Fred Mack for Prim. Conoco Swimming Oil which plays in the Rolling Meadows League was not scheduled. Coach Don Cahalin’s chalk talk Friday night paid off on Saturday as the Arling ton Heights Bantam All-Stars met and beat undefeated Dundee. Down 2 to 0, Arlington Heights showed a great deal of poise and determination as they fought back to win a 4 to 3 decision. Dave De- Leslie was sensational in the nets making 20 outstanding saves for the winners. Mike Retzer put on one of the best per formances of skating and heads-up hock ey seen this year as he scored one goal and assisted on two others. John Walsh anchored the offense and scored two goals while Bill McGuire scored one thrilling unassisted goal while playing his usual steady game at defense. Other assists went to Bob Bettis and Jeff Gard ner. Arlington’s Bantam All-Stars continued their winning ways Sunday by traveling to the Wagon Wheel and downing the Rockton All-Stars 8 to 0. Arlington pep pered the Rockton net with a total of 67 shots. Wayne Johnson and Bill McGuire each got two goals. Single tallies went to Jim Ryan, Jeff Gardner, Mike Retzer, and John Walsh. Assists went to Bob Bet tis, Jerry Dudziak, Jim Fendeson, and Tom McDonald as well as McGuire, Gardner, Ryan, Retzer, Johnson, and Walsh. Mike Knight was in the nets for the winners. In a terrific game between the rival Arlington Midget teams, the Jaycees nudged Cheker Oil 2 to 1. Rick Scho wengerdt and Mark Turkcan were the goal scorers for the Jaycees. Assists went to Tom Bourgeous, John Cooper, and Turkcan. Tim Paulsen was out standing in the nets and this game was the Jaycees best effort so far this season. Dan Farrell scored Chekers lone goal on assists from Dave Retzer and Dick Glass. Arlington’s third Midget team the Arco’s were idle. JUVENILES Arlington’s Rob Roy Golf Club lost a 4 to 0 decision to the Dundee Demons. Dundee’s 1st goal of the evening was kicked in by a Rob Roy defenseman and that set the stage for the four goal first period. Rob Roy started to check harder and George Moldenhauer played shutout hockey in the nets for the final 25 min utes. SQUIRTS The unpenetrable Latter Chevrolet goalie Jim Murphy turned away 25 shots from the Arlington Jaycees only to be defeated 1 to 0. Bill Mitchell the Jaycee goalie had his share of shots saving 12 for his shutout. Ron Culpepper scored the only goal with an assist from Rick Gar ber for the Jaycees. The Jaycee defense of John Mitchell, Joe Kuhn, Tony Aiello, and Paul Barbaro kept the fans on the edge of their seats for the fast moving 50 minutes. Dave Minette, Mike Aiello, Ed Peccia, and Jim Aiello covered the Lat ter goal crease, while the Mannix broth ers, Brian Riefke, Tom Rielly, and Dan Porowinski led most of the assaults. Fine efforts were turned by Tom Bailey, Lee Gray, Andy Chatten and Jim Ascher for Lattof. In an exhibition game at River Forest, Lattof Chevrolet, short three men, put to gether a good team effort to come from behind to defeat Hoffman Estates 3 to 1. Chris Lidge scored early in the 2nd period on a pass from Andy Chatten. Scott Paulsen scored the lead goal on a center ing pass from Tom Bailey and Lidge. Tom More assisted Lidge on the clincher. Jim Murphy turned away 14 of 15 shots on goal. The Squirt All Stars were defeated 2 to 0 by the Northbrook Buckaroos. The All-Stars got back on the winning track when they traveled to Rockton to defeat the Rockton All-Stars 5 to 3. Down 2 to 0 the Stars came back on a good team effort. Dan Porowinski, Lee Gray, Bob Anderson, Paul Stoltzner, and Chris Lidge get credit for their first goals of the All Star season. Jeff Price, Anderson and Stoltzner also earned their first as sists. Tony Aiello and Andy Chatten played well defensively helping to kill penalties twice. Val’s Victorious Tennessee had the best record of the nation’s major college football teams over the period 1966-1970. The Volunteers racked up a 43-7-1 mark, just ahead of second place Notre Dame, which was 41- 6-3. Southern Cal was third, Texas fourth and Penn State fifth.
