FLETCHER SNEED, HUSBAND OF DECEASED, LIVED FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS AT LYNNVILLE— CONDUCT WAS MYSTERIOUS. The sensational arrest of Miss Vir ginia O. Wardlaw, former president of Soule College, at New York, charged with the murder of her niece, Mrs. O. W. N. Sneed, whose dead body was found in a bath tub in “The House of Mystery” at Brooklyn, has caused much comment in Columbia and Maury county, where both Miss Wardlaw and Mrs. Sneed are well known. ‘As the president of Soule College Miss Wardlaw came Io close con tact with a number of Maury county, nirls who attended that institution, ma in addition had a considerable acquaintance here. Fletcher Sneed, whose wife was found dead under such peculiar cir cumstances, wed for a number of years at Lynnville, where he was sti lloned by the Earthman Interests, as did his brother, Wardlaw, both of whom married Giles county girls, the Misses McLaurine, sisters of Hon. Rafe McLaurine, candidate for Circuit Judge. Wardlaw Sneed afterwards commit ted suicide. Both he and Fletcher left Lynnville suddenly after receiv ing a call from their aunt, Miss Vir ginia Wardlaw, Fletcher Sneed was subsequently divorced from his first wife. There was much mystery connected with both the Wardlaws and Sneeda, who were exceedingly eccentric, and i f it was believed by some that there was a streak of Insanity In the fam ily. The outcome of Miss Wardlaw's arrest will be watched with interest here.
