The houses on the North of theFire, were principal!;, of wood, and thedames communicated from one to the o-ther with a rapidity almost unpandled. ^ In a short time, the dwelling house of John (tnibam, the Chair Manufactory of Jonas Thatcher. the Store and dwelling-house of John A. Forsyth, the dwelling house of! J. \\\ I lemons, and the Store house of J. « Clemens Co. with a number of smaller buildings, were all on fire and burning at die same time. The tiestniction of property was great, and much of it cardessty thrown upon (he streets, was pilfered from the want of proper precaution.Any thing like an accurate estimate of the amount of property lost, cannot be made; but it is supposed to he from 25 to 35,000 dollars. We understand that Messrs. J. W. Clemens Co. and John A. Forsyth, bud their property insured.
