HULL-DAISETTA — Funeral ser vices for George Washington Hooks, 2-year-old retired real estate and oil man, were held in Beaumont Saturday with burial in Hooks Cemetery in Kountze. Mr. Hooks was grandfather of Mrs. M. C. Greene of Hull-Daisetta, and father of Mrs. Frank Patrick, Sr., of Lib erty. He died early Friday morning at the home of another daughter, Mrs. Ben Avant, in Beaumont, after a five-day illness. A Beaumont resident for 38 years, Mr. Hooks was a native of Hardin County and a member of a pioneer family in that area. During his active business career, he was in the sawmill business at Hook's Switch and later entered the real estate and oil business at Sour Lake. He also had operated a drug store in Sour Lake. In addition to his daughters, Mrs Avant and Mrs. Patrick, and his granddaughter, Mrs. Greene, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Hooks of Beaumont; another daugh ter, Mrs. Harold Vertrees of Donna; three sons, W. N. of Beaumont, E. M. of El Paso and T. W. of Donna; nine other grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild
