Bryan should keep in mind the prop osition for a Free Baptist College here, and when the proper time arrives should be ready to respond to the prop osition with such inducements as will secure the location of the school here. Once established, such an institution will grow in scope and influence every year and prove a permanent benefit to the city in every way. The Eagle is in receipt of a copy of the Texas Railway News and Illus trator, official organ of the Texas Rail way club, and containing among many other good things, the splendid annual report of the prosperous Iloustone Texas Central, the pioneer railroad of Texas, its building having fist started in 1853. The report for the year end ing June $0, 1899, shows gross earnings from operation $3,805,626 and operat ing expenses $2,414,001.
