A. Erwin breathed his laRt at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. J. Collins, this city, at about 7:80 o’clock Monday evening, December 5th. He had been ill tor only 24hours, having been taken suddenly with a violent rigor about supper time Sunday. He had^ frequently suffered from similar attacks, but this one oame with such violence as to bafHe all that medical skill and loving care could do. “Uncle Abe,” as he was familiarly known by his friends, was in his 84th year, having passed the 83rd mile stone on life’s journey last October. He was a na tive of Tennessee, but a good part of bis life was spent in Georgia and Alabama. For many years he resided in West Point or at his country home, just over in Chambers county. He was an honest, upright, hightoned gentleman, a loyal citizen, a true friend and a devoted father. For quite a number of years he was a member of the Baptist church and though not specially demonstrative, he was loyal to and deeply concern-ed for the highest interests of bis church and the cause of Christ. His was a life full of years and replete with good deeds. Though no long-er in the world in bodily form, he continues to live in the lives of those who have been under his influence. Some sixteen months ago his dearly beloved and devoted wife, for so many-long years the sharer of his every joy and sorrow, was called to her heavenly home and now that his life’s work' is over he has been permitted to join her pure spirit in the realms of endless day.
