About six months ago the Oxford bank and the Johnson county savings bank, ofthis city, came into possession of forged notes. The note purchased by the former bank was for $200 and the one by the fatter was for $300. In each case the name o£ R. T. Bevins as principal and various persons as security was signed. The names ot the sureties were forged. Bevins 1ives.it Parnell, Iowa county, and has forged paper to the amount of about $1,000 .tit told, other banks beside those above mentioned bolding his notes.At the September term of the grand jury Bevins was indicted on the two counts enumerated, but got wind of the fact and skipped. H. N. Linebarger, of thlt; Oxford bank, has been looking for him for some lime, but could get no clue until very recently. when he found that the man was in Bloomington, 111. Sheriff Englert and he both went to Bloomington immediately rmd arrested him and brought him to Iowa City last night. He came without a requi-viion. Bevins is a widower.
