HOUSE OF DELEGATES, Dec. 4,Yesterday* on motion of Mr. Mor-riss* of Gloucester* Iea\e was given to bring in a bill “to repeal an act, entitled ‘an act supplementary to the several acts to prevent the destruction of oysters,’ ” passed February 3d, 1821, and to revive an act passed February* 18*20, entitled “an art to reduce into one the arts now in forte to prevent the destruction ofoysters within this commonwealth and a 9pecial committee was appointed to prepare and bring in the same.A motion was made by Mr. Graves, to suspend the 4.li rule of the House, for the purpose of reconsidering the resolution adopted yesterday* con-• erniug t'»e right of th»* persons returned as Delegates from Lewis County (viz. Messrs. Bland Maxwell) to »ake their seats as such.— This motion was rejected.Mien, on motion of Mr, Thompson, of Fairlax, the House came to the f ’(low ing resolution :lit solved. That the letter of Edward Jackson* addressed to this House* on the subject of the election of Delegates in the county of Lewis, together with the accompanying doc iiments, be referred to the Committee of Privileges and Elections, with instructions to inquire whether the silling members are entitled to hold their seals, and to report thereon.On motion of Mr. Watkins, of Goochland, a resolution was adopted to proceed, jointly with the Senate, to the election of a Chief Magistrate on Saturday the Glh inst.Among the petitions presented wan one from Lewis Bourne of the coun ty of Louisa to be divorced from Do-rotha Bourne his wife: also, one from Henry Carty for a divorce from his wife, Deborah: also one from Margaret Cox, of Greenbrier county, praying the passage of a law to lt;/». vorce her from her husband Henry Cox, a vivculo matrimoni; or if (bis should be denied her, praying that an agreement between her husband and herself, dated January I5th, 18*23, be rendered effcetua!, by securing to her the property she has, and may hereafter acquire, by ln*r own industry or other means, against any demand of her husband.
