‘ Sunday, December A, 1963 Centralia (TIL) Sentinel MT. VERNON — The Centra lia Orphans stunned the Mt. Ver non arms Friday with a press defense and an unsung hero Merritt Pulley. The Orphans won the South Seven opener 72-56 at Mt. Vernon. The press defense broke the game open after the clubs bat tled to a first period tie, but Pulley was the difference in the game. The 6-4 senior dumped in 27 points, a personal high, grabbed 11 rebounds and had only one miscue in the game which lost the ball. His rebounding, Coach Bob Jones said, was the eventu al difference.
