Mary Elizabeth, oldest daughter of Mr and Mr. Thomas P. Jones, was born near Fosterburg, Marion county, Feb. 13, 1847, died at St. Mary Hospital, Centralia, Nov. 30, 1911, age 64 years, 9 months and 17 days. Cancer of the liver was the cause of her death which quickly followed her husband, Isaac N. Knight, July 10, 1911. She lived in this vicinity all her life and was converted at old Sandy Branch when 16 years of age and joined the Methodist church, where she was faithful till her death. She was married to Isaac N. Knight 1864, while he was home from the army on a furlough. 'To this union four children were born, two still serving, Mrs. Josie Emerson of Shobonier,and Mrs. Lizzie Pettis, of Denver, Colo. The disease which caused her death has been slowly stealing her life for many years, but only since August has it been a serious case. She had arranged to sell her property in Vernon and mmove to Shobonier, having announced the sale of her personal effects a few days before she was stricken. Her sufferings were great and on Nov. 1st, she was removed to the Hospital, where she died. She was taken to the home of a daughter in Shobonier to await the arrival of the daughter from Denver. The funeral was held from the Methodist church Sunday morning, Rev. Monroe Smith, of Patoka, officiating, and the remains laid to rest in the Former cemetery. The bereaved ones wish to thank all who so kindly and affectionately showed their sympathy during their berearment.
