VanCauwenbergh, 76, of Castalia died Monday morning, Dec. 6, 2010, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, following a brief illness.He was born March 17, 1934, in Castalia and was a 1953 graduate of Margaretta High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked 22 years at Sandusky Folding Box Co., as a shipping and receiving clerk, and prior to that worked at Vulcan Materials, New Departure Hyatt and Chrysler Plastics.He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Castalia; Eagles; AMVETS; American Legion Post 83; and the VFW Post 2529.Frank is survived by his wife, the former Sandra Brunow, to whom he was married 50 years; two sons, Scott (Krystal) VanCauwenbergh of Milford, Ohio, and Ray (Heather) VanCauwenbergh of Sandusky; three grandchildren, Erin, Brett and Teresa VanCauwenbergh; one brother, Joseph VanCauwenbergh of Castalia; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his son Mark VanCauwenbergh in 2005; parents, Alex and Delphine VanCauwenbergh; and two brothers, Gaston and Louis VanCauwenbergh.Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Pastor Billy Hatfield will officiate.
