Fans Await SongsOf Bing CrosbyIn New RKO FilBing Crosby fans all want to know how many songs his Father O’Malley is going to sing in The Bell» of St. Mary's, the new Leo MeCarey-RKO picture to be released at the RKO Palace, Cincinnati,, on Dec. 27, and at the RKO Keith, Dayton, on Dec. 25.Will he sing sacred or popular numbers, or a mixture of both? Will he many as he did inGoing My Way?The answer is he will. In the early part of the film Bing does not sing at all. Then about a third through the story he “puts over” a point he wishes to convey to a disillusioned little student of St.Mary’s by singing “Aren’t You Glad You’re You?’’ a new numberof the popular type with a keen lilt to it.Later he joins in with the nunt’ choir, heard off stage singing “0 Sanctissima.” Then in another story situation he sings “In the Land of Beginning Again” as he helps mend a broken home. With a choir of school children we catch him rehearsing “Adeste Fidelis” for Christmas, and as the film nears its end he is drawn intoa community *in^ with the sistersnent fo of “IMary’s.”in the convent. They provide ac companiment for Bing’s special rendition of “The Bells of St.Not to be entirely outdone by lt;her co-star, Ingrid Bergman, whoseof Sissplendid portrayal of Sister Bene diet makes The Bells of St. Mary's her most memorable film to date, sings a bright little song in her reoinative Swedish. “It is just about spring,” she explains to the sisters. A happy choice for a happy character in an entirely happy film. — (By William H. Mooring, a motion picture editor of the Tidings of the Los Angeles archdiocese.)
