Fans Await Songs Of Bing Crosby In New RKO FilmBing Crosby fans all want to know how many songs his Father O’Malley is going to sing in The Bells of St. Mary's, the new Leo McCarey-RKO picture to be released at the RKO Palace, Cincinnati,, on Dec. 27, and at the RKO Keith, Dayton, on Dec. 25.Will he sing sacred or popularnumbers, or a mixture of both? Will he sing as many as he did in Going My Way?The answer is he will. In the early part of the film Bing does not sing at all. Then about a third through the story he “puts over” a point he wishes to convey to a disillusioned little student of St. Mary’s by singing “Aren’t You Glad You’re You?” a new number of the popular type with a keen lilt to it.Later he joins in with the nun!' choir, heard off stage singing “O Sanctissima.” Then in another story situation he sings “In the I Land of Beginning Again” as he ! helps mend a broken home. With a choir of school children we catch him rehearsing “Adeste | Fidelis” for Christmas, and as the film nears its end he is drawn into a community *ing with the sisters in the convent. They provide accompaniment for Bing’s special rendition of “The Bells of St. Mary’s.”Not to be entirely outdone by her co-star, Ingrid Bergman, whose splendid portrayal of Sister Benedict makes The Bells of St. Mary's her most memorable film to date, sings a bright little song in her native Swedish. “It is just about spring,” she explains to the sisters. A happy choice for a happy character in an entirely happy film. — (By William H. Mooring, a motion picture editor of the Tidings of tlje Los Angeles archdiocese.)
