Yesterday’s customers were both astonished and pleased at the changes that had been wrought. This is the fourth time the sales room has been enlarged since the premises were first occupied by this establishment. The feature of the changes most complimentary to the firm is that necessity has forced the adding of room for display of goods and conveniences of customers. It certainly is a growing institution.Mrs. Mary B. Goodwin Candidate For State SenateLea and Eddy Counties £foe Howard of Portales has been communicating with the Hobbs Chamber of Commerce, soliciting the contribution of $25 for the cooperative road sign, to be placed on Highway No. 18. at Clovis. The sign will list the names of the towns on the route to Carlsbad Caverns. At this time local people are more interested in a road sign of similar nature, to be located east of Hobbs, directing traffic through our Main street.Sam Samuels of the Fiivt Auto Station, New Hobbs, mingled with the thr«*ng of local people at Lovington Monday.I was literally dratted into this campaign by business men from Lea and Eddy Counties, which two counties compose this Senatorial District.I do not have the time to make an extensive campaign,but if elected will serve the entire district without partiality,but am giving briefly some of the things I stand for, as a business man.I believe in Good Roads and will work for all good roads tor my district. I am a good roads enthusiast.If elected your .senator. I will work for the interests lt;£4. the cattleman and the farmer, whenever possible. The pricespaid now for the farmer’s and rancher’s products are out ofproportion with the prices of finished products. The farmer and ranchman need some legislative relief.I am in favor of an old age pension law to protect those who are in need in old age.The Workman’s Compensation Law of New Mexico is a farce and a disgrace to our State. I am in favor of legislation to change the Compensation Law so as to give some protection to the workingman and his dependents.I stand for Organized Labor, which may be attested *y* the fact that I was the first merchant in Hobbs to rercognize Organized Labor by taking out a Union Card and giving my employes Union Wages and Union Hours.If elected your senator, I will attempt to vote on all questions that come before us, in an intelligent business like manner, looking at all times to the interests of the public.Yours for justice,O.
