An alarm of fire was given y ester-* I 4lay afternoon, about three o’clock, and!; was found to proceed from tho old!: Western Hotel building, on West Main-street. Notwithstanding tlio driving snow storm, a largo crowd, armed with buckets, was quickly on the ground and , tho fire was noon extinguished. It proved to be a'chimney on fire, and not at all dangerous, but tho maimer in which the volunteer fire brigade got there was as commendable iih though it had boon a hundred thousand dollar conflagration.
