CARL G. R1NGH0LZ .DEC, 8,1919-DEC.. 4,2010NORWALKCarl G. Ringholz, 90, of Norwalk died Saturday, Dec. 4,2010, in University of Toledo Medical Center.He was born Dec. 8,1919, in Norwalk, son of the late Frank E, and Eleanor (Frank) Ringholz and was a lifelong area resident. Carl was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.and was a veteran of the U.S.Army Air Corps serving in World War II. He was stationed in Alaska.He was a bank teller at the Huron County Bank and also worked at the Durkee Spice Co., both of Norwalk. Carl was a concrete finisher and mason and worked for A.J. Baltes Construction Co. and for Hug ConstructionCo.He was a member of Eagles Aerie 711, VFW Post 2743, and Ken Bur Bell Post 41 American Legion. Carl enjoyed gardening, fishing and bird watching, was a Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, Ohio State and Notre Dame fan and received the Neighbor of the Year Award in 1987. Carl especially enjoyed cooking Sunday dinner for his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother.He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gladys (Gabb) Ringholz of Norwalk; his children, Carol Shaffoe of Milan,Dave and his wife Marie (Schaafsma) Ringholz of Albany, Ga„ Bob and his wife Karen (Koehnle) Ringholz of Spring, Texas, and Kathy and her husband Brian Meagrow of Milan; six grandchildren, Troy and Ioanna Shaffoe, Todd and Danielle Shaffoe, Amy and Charlie Myers, Brandon and Jennifer Meagrow, Amber Ringholz, and Derek Ringholz; and three great-grandchildren, Katie Lyall, McKenna Shaffoe, and Caden Shaffoe. He is also survived by his sister, loan Ringholz of Norwalk.Carl was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene, Paul and lames Ringholz and by his sister, Mary Barva; and his son-in-law, Thomas A. Shaffoe in 2008.Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W, Main St., Norwalk. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E.
