Winter landscape by Stan HaringMuseum plans Christmas open house for SundayThe public is invited to attend the Laura Musser Art Gallery and Museum’s annual Christmas open house program from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.At 2:30 p.m., a demonstration of the technique of water color' painting will be presented by Stan Haring, art director for the American College Testing Program atIowa City, and a popular painter of Iowa landscape Mr, Haring’s water color .painting “Pending Storm” was in color in the 1972 Bell-Telephone calendar. Pending Storm” is among the 37 paintings and drawings by Stan Haring to be exhibited by the museum until Jan. 16. He has often been commissioned to paint portraits of ■buildings and his view of the Muscatine County 'Court House is shown as an example of his skill.After the painting demonstration, refreshments will be served.by a committee of the Muscatine r County Museum and Fine Arts Association.A unique feature of the new program will be the exhibition of blown glass by Steve Edwards of Iowa City. His colorful glass with its swirls and encrustations remcnis-cent of the great art glass of the 19th century has won eager acceptance by collectors in the Iowa City area. Mr. Edwards is a graduate student at the University of Iowa.Another unusual feature of the Christmas display will be the collection of, old teddy bears and early pictures, books and advertising about teddy bears loaned by Mrs. Robert Baizer of Davenport,A wide selection of antique children’s furniture, dolls and toys will include recent gifts to the museum and loans from collectors. Another vgroup of fine antique iron toys has been loaned by L.F Birdsall of Blue Grass.
