Blizzardettes Chalk Up Two MoreBasketball GamesThe Winters Blizzardettes added two more games to the win column when they blasted Bronte 43-20 Tuesday of last week, and clobbered Merkel to the tune of 59-34 Tuesday night.In the game against Bronte, sparked by the rebounding of Carolyn Faubion and scoring of Lou Await. Winters jumped ahead 27-S at the half.Lou Await was high scorer with 16 points, followed by Rita Walker with 14 points.Winters B team outscored Bronte. 40-24, to win their second game of the season. Diane Roper was high with 16 points.The 8th grade girls won their game, 33-19, to keep their record perfect. La Ross Sheppard was high with 16 points, and outstanding on defense were Linda White, Gretta Riddle and Ginger Gardner.In the game against Merkel, the Winters girls marked up 18 points to Merkel's 2 in the first quarter, and went on to wrap up the game, 59-34.Winters guards allowed only two free throws in the first period. Defenders for Winters were Kay Byrd. Joyce Heathcott and Lavera Williams.Rita Walker hit 23 points to lead the Blizzardettes, followed by Carolyn Faubion with 19 points and Dorretha King with 15 points.Merkel took the B game, 38-31. Nancy Spill was high with 20 points. In the 8th grade game, Winters won, 25-11. Judy Smith was high with 13 points.The A and B teams will be in action again Friday night at the local gym against Eula. The starting time will be 6:30.On December 8, the Blizzardettes will play Anson at Winters. Anson is the only team to defeat the Winters girls this season.
