Y~ To Handsboro. vCTho Gulf and Ship Island railroad extension of its track to Handsboro from Gulfport was greeted with much*interest and enthusiasm by the citizens of the place. The track is finished and trains loaded with sqaure timber from Lumberton and Hattiesburg are now unloading in the river at Handsboro for export through Ship Island harbor. It is just two weeks since. t he first spade of earth was thrown at Gulfport by the editor of Southward, aud the four-mile branch built under the supervision of General Manager S. S. Bullis, of the Gulf and Ship Island, is now in practical operation. ; This makes Handsboro the terminus for shipping square timber, which cannot be put into salt water on account of worms and barnacles. The Gulf and Ship Island railioad has bought terminal property and inclosed a large lake for this business.Sk- :-U-
