This week the Santa Fé sur veying crew is running a line into Hamlin from the northwest. They are indicating that they would join the Abilene South ern near the Oil Mill. But rail road building in West Texas is very uncertain, however there is considerable talk that the Santa Fe is contemplating buying the A. S. road from Hamlin to Ballinger. This would undoubt edly develop into one of their best paying branches. But the Santa Fe is laying out extensive plans for the future and possi bly to hold down territory that other roads may wish to occupy. Hamlin would certainly welcome a Santa Fe railroad, and here is hoping that they will tap the good territory north of us and extend the line down to BaHen ger—Hamlin Herald.
