GIVEN HIS LIBERTYCharge Against the Young Farmer Is Dropped upon the Payment of $180 to BothschiM Groin Company of■ V ?Davenport-4' settlement was made in the prosecution of Max Schultz, charged with selling property covered by a landlord's rlien and he was discharged from custody. . ;Attorney W. A. Follett was the defendant's counsel and he says there were many extenuating circumstances in connection with the case. It seems, that Schultz was a renter on the farm of Henry .Hansen and that he sold some grain amounting, it is stated, co $180, to the Rothschild Grain Company of Davenport and that he did not have the consent of the landlord and that there was a lien against the grain. He was accordingly indicted on a charge of selling property* covered by a landlord's lien. After talking with the defendant himself Attorney Follett discovered that the difficulty of the situation was that the defendant wai hard up for funds, had stokness in his family# and that be did usejthemoney to^take care of the members:6t his family, and that; he had nointention to defraud anybody. The defendant's father and Julias raised the money# which was turned over 'to the proper officials and the court issued an order releasing 8chulti [from custody and the charge against htin was dropped.
