A, Kaiaer Bro.The boy had been sent for some article near the pile of -cotton, and it being almost dark, he struck a match . A part of the nfatch’s head flew off just as it Ignited, and this piece struok the oottoo, Io less time than it takes to tell it the ootton was io a blaze, and all bands set to work to extinguish the flames, in the meantime,.the lira department wae sent for, and it came down Newcastle at a 2.20 gait, bat the workere at the store had succeeded in getting^ S burning ootton out before it arrd; it is certainly Inoky that the'ftre was confined to the •mall pile of ootton, because if the flames had eter got a good start, the whole store, and probably the block, would kite been eoneumed. The damage Is less tha^tfiO.OO.
