Still to Be Tried on the Forgery Charge —Companies Will Un doubtedly Resist Collection of Insurance on Mrs. Bradshaw's Life. Stephenville, Tex., Dec. 3.—(Special.) The testimony In the case of the state vs. Gor don Bradshaw, the young Missourian, charged with the murder of his wife near this point on March 2, was concluded last night and after brief argument by coun sel the jury retired. After deliberating some five hours, the following verdict was returned into court: “We, the jury, find the defendant, Gor don Bradshaw, guilty of negligent homi- GORDON BRADSHAW, Convicted of “Negligent Homicide in the First Degree, vide In the first degree, and assess his pun ishment at a fine of $1,000. Under the construction placed by law upon such a verdict in this state, the de fendant stands acquitted of all Intent to take the life of his wife; still, the degree of negligence exhibited by him in the handling of his gun at the time of the killing was regarded as such as to demand punishment. Under the statutes of this state, the jury gave Bradshaw the extreme penalty exacted in cases of conviction for the degree of homicide named In the ver dict. Now that the courts have cleared Bradshaw of the charge of wilful murder, it remains to be seen whit action will be taken by the insurance companies in the matter of the settlement of his claime. They will undoubtedly fight payment to the lagt. Bradshaw is yet to be tried upon the forgery charge pending. It is admitted that the testimony given by the mother of the dead woman and the aged father of the defendant formed the controlling fac tors with the jury in dealing thus leniently with him. Gordon Bradshaw came with his wife to Brenne Avila following his marriage at meeeenn., September 2h, 15%. He and his wife were first cousins.
