Scheduled for presentation in the Alma Thomas Theatre at Southwestern University Dec. 3, 4, and 5 at 8 p.m. is the Mask and Wig Players’ production of Arthur Miller's ‘‘THE CRUCIBLE”. Fred Goodson of the drama faculty in the School of Fine Arts at Southwestern University is directing this production. Serving as assistant director is Pam Whitfield, junior majoring in drama (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Whitfield, 326 Corona, San Antonio). Dr. Angus Springer is chairman of the Drama and Speech Department. “THE CRUCIBLE” is a drama of the witchcraft in old Salem in 1692 by the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright. With an emphasis on today’s problems, the characters are forever trying to commit themselves to some cause. Cast of “THE CRUCIBLE”, includes, Tommy Forbes, senior majoring in government for the Bachelor of Arts degree; member of Mask and Wig Players, National Collegiate Players, Blue Key (leadership fraternity), Pre-Law Society, Kappa Sigma fraternity, president of Students Association; member of casts of ‘‘Royal Hunt of the Sun”’, ‘‘Diary of Anne Frank”’, ‘Inherit the Wind”, ‘‘Lion in Winter’; son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Forbes, 1501 East 15th St., Georgetown Tom Swift, sophomore majoring in drama for the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree; member of Mask and Wig Players; member of casts of ‘Inherit the Wind”’, “Lion in Winter’’, ‘‘Tiger at the Gates”’, ‘‘Carnival’’, ‘‘The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail’’; son of Dean and Mrs. W. Phillips, Actor-in-Residence in the School of Fine Arts at Southwestern University, also majoring in drama for the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree; member of Actor’s Equity Association, Southwest Theatre Conference; previously appeared on the Southwestern University stage in “The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail,”’ resides at 1708 Olive Street, Georgetown.
