He cleft the water ljfce a kal#e. and only n little spray and a widening circle of ripples on the waters nr the lake reaulted from his hefty body hitting the water at great velocity from the height* of the tower. The onlookers waited for him to come up. Ten second* passed and there was no rc-appe*rancc of the diver. People began to feel a little un-en*y. They Imagined there w** n posHlblllty that he might have bumped his head on the bottom. Uneasiness was succeeded by alarm and then apprehension as further seconds passed with no re-appearance of the diver. The onlookers bogun to panic, and the cry went up man drowning. The man In charge of the kiosk perched on the high embankment overlooking the baths came bounding down the grassy slopes and took a header Into the water with a mighty splash. Others followed his example and soon ’t£efce were downs or men. Including skilled life savers belonging to the local swimming club feverishly diving and surfacing nnd diving again In un attempt to locate the missing man. Minutes drugged by and still nobody could succeed in locating him. It was soon obvious that no man could remain under water Tor such a lengtli or time and remain alive. A message was sent for the Ambulance and the indue who hastened to the scene and the search went on unsuccessfully for hours.
