Mr*. Katharine Stirling Smith.Mrs. Katharine Stirling Smith,widow ef the late Dr. Charles Magill Smith, died in New Orleans on November 25th, at the age of 86 vears. Her body was conveyed to Franklin and baried in the cemetery here an the 26th instant. The funeral services were held from the Episcopal Church. By the death of Mrs. Smith passed away one of our oldest and highly revered and beloved citizens.In the tirst half of the nineteenth century she was born near Franklin in the Parish of St. Mary, and among its people her long life was spent. She married Dr. Charles Magill Smith on the 10th day of November, 1857. Of this union were born a«x lt;ons and one daughter: Lewis, John, Charles, Augustus, James and Archie Smith, and Miss Katie Smith: who are still living with the exception of Lewis, Charles and James Smith, and the daughter, Miss Katie Smith, who pasted away in the beauty of her bright and early womanhood. Mrs. Smith’s husband, after a long and excellent life, preceded hermany years to the grave. She nad many friends who deplore and mourn her passing away. She had gone beyond the age allotted to mankind byscripture. And when we look back on its fair record we can rejoice to feel, while we mourn for her, we are consoled by the thought that this excellent lady has performed her part well and hag followed the way that leads to eternal life, light and peace.
