Mrs. Letitia Ely died Tuesday evening at the Home hospital following a surgical operation about a week ago from which she never rallied. Mrs. Ely came with her parents to Perry township nearly seventy years ago. She was bom in Ross county, Ohio, near Circleviile, November 5, 1847, and it was in 1852 that her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dumm, and their family, emigrated to Tippecanoe county. She was married to Daniel Ely, January 29, 1871, when she and her husband moved to a farm on the Wildcat, where they remained until 1898, when they moved to Lafayette. Mr. Ely died in 1901. Mrs. Ely, for some years, had made her home with her children at 607 South street. She was a member of the United Brethren church for many years, but for some time had taken great interest in the Christian Science faith. The following children survive: J. S. Ely, Miss Anna M. Ely, Miss Sarah E. Ely and Miles W. Ely, of this city, and Mrs. W. T. Butz, of Jamestown, N. Y., formerly of this city. The funeral will be conducted from the Ely home, at 607 South street, Friday morning at 10 o'clock, the Rev. Thomas F. Williams, pastor of Trinity M. E. church, officiating. Interment at Isley cemetery.
