Bride of John Lafayette RaderThe Rev. D. D. Wagoner read ti»e service at 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon, December 2, at the First Methodist Church, uniting in marriage Miss Rita Carolyn Wei-gand, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Weigand, and Mr. John Lafayette Rader of Anchorage, Alaska, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph R. Rader of Howard, Kas. Seven-branch candelabra holding white tapers entwined with greenery and satin ribbon, and large baskets of white chrysanthemums, decorated the altar.A* the guests were being seated. Mrs. Glen E. Patterson, organist, played: Moonlight Sonata,' Beethoven; Ave Maria, Gounod; Liebestraum,” Listz and Bless This House. She also played the traditional wedding marches and accompanied Miss Irma Lutz who sang, Through the Years and Mallott’s The Lord’s Prayer as a benediction.Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of imported Chantilly lace, danseuse length, with iridescent sequins lighting the applique lace flowers at the yoke line, and fashioned with long, pointed sleeves, fitted bodice and full skirt. Her veil of illusion fell gracefully from a cap pf lace and she carried a Prayer Book adorned with bouvardia, with streamers of narrow s atin ribbon caught with the same flowers.Mrs. Stephen Mills of Columbus, Ohio, matron of honor, wore mauve satin in ballerina length, fashioned with a net trimmed bodice and overskirt of net. The bridesmaids, Mrs. John O. Foust of Iola, Kas., and her twin sister, Miss Esther Williams of Leavenworth, wore satin gowns in shades of champagne and ac^ua respectively, styled like tharibf the matron of honor. All the attendants carried cascades of pale yellow carnations. Mrs. Matthew Weigand of Coffeyville and Mrs. William T. Rader of Lawrence, who lighted the tapers, wore dusty rose and light blue satin and their taperlighters were adorned with yellow carnations.Mr. John J. Rader of Lawrence, Kas., was best man. Groomsmen were Mr, Edward W. Colburn and Mr. Ralph Brock, both of Law?-rence. Ushers were Mr. Ethan Potter of Leavenworth and Mr. Matthew- Weigand of Coffeyville.The reception immediately following the wedding was held in the social rooms of the church. The bride’s table, illumined by wrhite tapers, held a tiered wedding cake wreathed with white blossoms and fern.After a brief honeymoon trip, the bride and groom will leave for Alaksa. They will make their home in Anchorage, where Mr. Rader is associated with a lew firm.For traveling, the bride chose a two-piece wool ensemble in brown and white, topped by a full length fur coat. Her accessories were peacock blue and she wore a shoulder corsage of bouvardia. B. Bless at her home in Weston Sunday afternoon. Also honored wras Miss Mattie Dykes of Marysville, Mo., president of the National Federation of Presswomen.Mrs. Bless and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Charles Bless received between the hours of 2:30 and 4 o’clock and guests were women journalists and writers from St. Joseph, Atchison.
