‘Flying Saucer’ Was Good Description of MeteorSYDNEY, Friday. — The Government Astronomer (Mr. Harley Wood) said today that a ‘‘flying saucer”, which more than a dozen people said they saw on Wednesday, was a meteor.“Two of the descriptions we had of the ‘saucer’ were the best we ever had of a meteor”, he said.The “flying saucer” ivas seen about 7 p.m. on Wednesday by people in Brisbane, Glen Innes, GladstoneJ Mvrjvilhimbah, Lismore, Kyogle, Mallanganee, Kempsey,1 and Homebush.“The meteor would be about SO miles up, and travel ling faster than 25 miles a second”, Mr. Wood said. “That is the reason why it was seen over such a wide area1’.
