An honest, earnest effort was made to give the people of Daytona a timely, creditable newsy paper, and how well the undertaking was curried out the. people must judge.Newspaper people above every laxly know the value of advertising, and when Dakota Bob offered his services for a little turn, he was given carte blanche, and told to make his littlespiel.Accompanied by E. U. Ilulhday, a member of the American Federation of Musicians, who played the b:iss drum, and C. A. Emerson, wh rattled the rosewood over the taut kangaroo skin, in one of W. W. Abercrombe's automobiles, this trio beat their way through the streets of Daytona, Seabreeze and Daytona Beach, crying the Daily News, which they sold in numbers.Mark Isaacs, one of the owners of the Crystal Theatre, bought the lirst paper, and started the boys on a triumphant tour. They were soon forced to speed back to the News office for a second installment of papers.The Daily News feels immensely gratified with the warm reception and generous welcome accorded the initial appearance of the daily issue of the season 1908-9.aNow everybody who has the upbuilding of this beautiful sea-side city at heart join heartily in making this the banner season so far exnerienccd.
