It appeared, thatProfecutor and her Woman going in a Stage-Coa from London to Brentford, where they were to iff met by the Lady’s own Chariot, the Criminal and another of his Acquaintance travelled with them in the fame Coach, at which Time the Pri-foner talked Bawdy for the Space of Three Miles and an half by the Profecutor’s Watch. ThePri-foner had little to fay forhimfelf, but that he talked only in his own Trade, and meant no Hurt by what he laid. The Jury however found him guilty, and reprelented by their Fore-Woman, that inch Dd-courfes were apt to fully the Imagination, and that by a Concatination of Idea's, the Word Linen iin-ply’d many Things that were not proper to be (fir-red up in the Mi ad of a Woman who was of the Profecutor’s Quality, and therefore gave it as their Verdibfc, That the Linendraper fhould Jofe his Tongue. Mr. Bickerjlaff laid, lie thought the Profecutor’s Ears were as much to blame as the Prilo-ner’s Tongue, and therefore gave Sentence as follows ; That they lhould both be placed over againlt one another in the mid if of the Court, there to remain for the Space of one quarter of an Hour; during which Tune the Linendraper was to be gagged, and the Lady to hoi J her Hands dole upon both her Ears ; which was executed, according!\.
