Eric Brant, 4-2 Hwt—Dave Bishop (Fin) won by forfeit Kingman, Maddox Come To Terms With Cubs, NY Mets By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS. _ Slugger Dave Kingman signed a five year, $1.2 million contract with the Chicago Cubs Wednesday, saying he liked the short fences at Wrigley Field in Chicago, which is his home. Kingman walloped 26 homers last season as he played out his option after stints with the New York Mets, the San Diego Padres and the New York Yankees. The Mets did not come out empty handed, however, signing outfielder Biliou whannox to a Lrne-year contract. 100 teams were disclosed Maddox, whose checkered major league career has included a stop with the New York Yankees, played out his option with the Baltimore Orioles this year. Maddox was traded to the Orioles by the Yankees last Jan. 20 for centerfielder Paul Blair. Troubled by a knee injury, Maddox played intermittently for the Orioles, batted .262 and had nine runs bat ted in.
