One hundred years ago Richard Heurv Dana, author of “TwoYears Before the Mast/’ set foot on theSanta Barbara shore after a five months’ voyage around the Horn. Last January ins niece and -godchild, Sarah Dana Watson Andersen, with the same love of the sea and the same zest for something new and venturesome thaL characterized her distinguished uncle, traveled up the California coast to San Diego, to San Francisco, and finally to Santa Barbara. There she carried her adventuring into every nook and corner of the old cilv, visiting the Old Missiont Othat charmed her Uncle Richard, also the Casa de la Guerra, where lie had been a guest, and in the vicinity the tile plaque commemorating his visit. To the white-haired little lady who at fourscore responds so eagerly if) the call of the new and the unknown, our congratulations.
