BATHURSTIRSij-rl.(Oui Own Correspondent.)The annual exhibition in connection with the Amateur Art Society which wua held in the s'**uniu Hall last week was n pronounced success, both as regards the number and ijuality of the exhihita, and also thu attendance on each day. The exhibition was formally opened by the Mayor (Aid. fcj. It. Kenney) on Tbnraday night, there being a very large and fashion* ,r^f attendance ureaaat. Mr. A. J. Dal-pylin of Sydney won the special prise of £10 10s. for the best sample of oil-painting and subject, while Mr. A. tb« Collinridge came second. Paintings in oils, figure work: John Sal ran a, (Sydhey) 1st; animals. Miss Minna Thompson 1st (A Dog's Ilesd); still life, flowers : John Salvana (Sydney) let, Miss E. Dunstan 2nd ; painting in water colors, flowers, etc: Phylisa klcFhillamy, chrysanthemuns, 1st; childieu under 15, oil painting; Master Ruby Somerville 1st; black »nd white : Ivy Dennis 1st and $nd ; black and white: RussoII Pascoe 1st, Arthur Wright 2nd; for children under 12—black and white: Enid Smith 1st, Sybil Smith 2nd; geometrical drawings: Leonard McKoQiie 1st; mechanical drawings: Leonard McKenzie 1st.
