A DUEL WITH MOONSHINERS.Greenville, S. C., Nov. 30.—A desperate battle between Eli Pittman, a moon-! shiner, and revenue officers led by Col. i Wayne Ferguson, took place four miles from liere, near Cox’s bridge, this after-1 noon. Deputy Collectors Alexander Phillips and D. R. Stewart were wounded. Stewart’s right leg may have to be amputated* Pittman, armed with a Winchester, held nt bay the officers armed with pkitols, and Stewart was left with the moon-shiner until a large pose from here rescued him. Pittman, with j another moonshiner, escaped toward the 'dark corner. An ill'cit still was discovered on Pittman’s place. Further trouble i is expected.
