Carson.| Colo.The newly organized Recondo s School, received its name,• which is a combination of reconnaissance, commando and doughboy, from General Wll-1 liam C. Westmoreland, Army Chief of Staff.The school is a condensed four weeks of training centered on Vietnam tactics and will ser-j vice all of the Fifth U.S. Armv 1 area.Students received training in 1 patrolling, movement by hell-’ copter, explosives, survival, mountain climbing, and how to call in air and artillery strikes.Pfc. Overly is a tracked vehicle driver in the 2d Battalion of the 69th Infantry Brigade’s 133rd Infantry.The just-starting courses will permit registration during the ifirst class session attended by the student. The fall semester will run until December 19. Registration fee is only $3 per course. However, there are some additional lab fees for some industrial-technical I courses. There is no fee charged for Adult Basic Educa-I tion courses.On the OWJC campus, day courses are offered in the general education area. Course offerings include High School Sci-I ence, Math, Social Studies, and English. Other courses include Reading, Applied English, Applied Math, Technical Physics, Driver Education, Modern Novels, Technical Writing, and sim ilar subjects. Similar evening courses are also offered at Crest view High, Escambia Farms, and Walton Junior High School in DeFuniak Springs.Also offered at DeFuniak j Springs. 212 S. 11th St., from ; 9 a.m. to noon, and 1 to 4 p.m., are art for the senior citizen, j china painting, and ceramics. At Choctawhatchee Bay Beach. Point Washington, ceramics is offered and in Paxton, art for senior citizens is available.Other Industrial-Technical offerings on campus during the day and night are basic and advanced air conditioning and refrigeration mechanics, and industrial and technical draft ing and design. For most of these technical courses, lab fees are $10 to $15 per term. Most of these courses are approved for Veterans training.Day classes in the Industrialand Technical area are also offered at 10 Jefferson Lane. Fort Walton Beach. Included are: brick and blocklaying ($25 per term); and welding ($210 per term). Campton, and First Methodist Church of Niceville.There is something for everyone this year at Okaloosa-Walton Junior College, Toney stated.
