HORNETS SCRIMMAGE KLEIN HERE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT 6The Caldwell Hornet football team will scrimmage Klein here Fri., Sept. 1. The scrimmage is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. This will be the second pre-seson scrimmage for the Hornets. Last Thursday the Hornets scrimmaged Connally High School in Waco.Klein, a member of District 20AA, finished last season with a record of nine wins, one loss, and a tie. They won the District championship, nosing out Bellville for the honor. Their running attack is led by fullback Perry Redding and halfback Willie Guss. Their line is anchored by guard Roy Allee (210), and other strong points in the line are end Ronnie Pierce, Ed Kersten (230) and Harold Bridges (215).Last year Caldwell scrimmaged at Klein. Klein outseored the Hornets five times to one.Hornet Coach Morris Stone said he felt like the Hornets learned a lot in their scrimmage last Thursday with Connally. He said they learned a lot on the phase of the game they worked on, and everyone was real receptive.He said “The boys hit realMinnows spawn profusely. Fish farming is increasing. Groupers are large sea basses.good, and moved the ball pretty well in the scrimmage. We expect a great improvement this week in the Klein scrimmage over the scrimmage with Connally, because of the boys hustle and altitude.”The Coach added that there were no hoys out with serious injuries, but a couple are slowed down, but only temporarily.The squad has been divided into two grorups wih 27 men on the varsity squad and 30 men on the B team. The varsity is made up of seniors and juniors. The B team of freshmen and sophomores and a few juniors, Coach Stone raid.As to workouts during the past w» ek Coach Stone said “The whole bunch looks pretty impressive.
