On Sunday, August 20, 1916, in the Myers Grove, north of Chili, was held the second annual reun ion of the Fites families. The weather which means much for such a gathering was beautiful and added much to the pleasure of the day. At the noon hour after Thanks had been returned by Brother Samuel Butt we partook of a sumptuous dinner which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. After dinner was cleared away, the president called order and the officers for the following year were chosen as follows: President, Elmer Fites; Vice Pres., Warren Batts Lec., ‘Treva Robbins; assist ant Sec., and Treas., Warren Butt; committee on arrangements, Wal ter Butt, Elbert Robbins and Al bert Fites. Ten gallon of ice cream was dis posed of by the eighty-seven mem bers which were present and was certainly enjoyed by all. Those present from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Clark Wall and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Fites and family, all of Bourbon, Ind., Albert Fites and family, of Hammond, Ind., Ray Butt and children, of Fort Wayne, Minnie Parks and son, of Chicago, Ill, and Mrs. Cleland and children, of Walcotville. It was decided to have the next reunion on the third Saturday in August, 1917, in the Myers Grove near Chili. After spending the day in a very sociable way, all departed to their respective homes, saying, “This has been a day well spent.”
