The Peoria Transcript says: George Hamilton, the Wyoming bank clerk who absconded several weeks ago with about $4,000 of the bank’s funds, is now confined in the Peoria county jail. He is a very quiet and gentlemanly appearing young man, and devotes tlio most of his time to reading. The close confinement wearies him and has made him decidedly penitent. He does not seek to throw the blame of his rash act upon anyone £lse, but thinks that it would never have happened if the cashier had been at home. He says that he was over-worked and thought he would take a trip to Europe, but he spent too much time in the gay city of Chicago, and was consequently captured before he could get out of the country.
